Essential Functions of the Mentoring Coordinator:
- To successfully identify, engage with, and recruit youth and volunteer mentors interested in the mentoring program.
- To facilitate matches between youth and mentors based on interviews, youth/mentor interests, and matching events.
- To facilitate events designed to further the program including recruiting events, matching events, group activities, and support meetings.
Minimal Qualifications for the Mentoring Coordinator:
- Have a minimum of two years experience working with youth.
- Will possess excellent engagement skills.
- Will be able to function autonomously and be able to take initiative in growing and sustaining the program.
- Shall be available to work some evenings throughout the week, and on occasion on a weekend, as needed.
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and daily access to a vehicle to drive within the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a human service-related field
- Previous organizational or leadership experience
Physical Requirements:
- Moving from one work site to another and driving to see multiple youth in a day requiring getting in and out of a vehicle (This includes entering and exiting the vehicle safely, which may involve bending, twisting, and stepping): X Often
- Light work that includes lifting and carrying objects up to 20 pounds - ability to lift and carry any necessary equipment or materials to and from the vehicle and clients' apartments: X Often
- Ability to walk and climb stairs - Visiting clients' homes, placements, and apartments may require walking and navigating stairs, so individuals should be capable of doing so comfortably and safely: X Often
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing: X Often
- Using personal vehicle to meet with clients and transport them when needed X Often
